Abstract.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the quantitative and qualitative composition of the major periodontopathogen microorganisms in patients with RA. The results of the study of microbialogical profile of periodontal pockets using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in 51 patients with RA were compared with 30 patients with chronic generalized periodontitis. The association of three microorganisms: P. gingivalis, T. forsythensis and T. denticola was found more often in group of RA patients than in comparison group. This complex also dominated in quantitative content in RA group. The dependence of quantitative microorganisms composition of periodontal pockets on the severity of periodontal disease was noted in RA group: content of P. gingivalis and T. forsythensis grew with increasing destructive inflammatory process in periodont.
Key words:
rheumatoid arthritis, chronic periodontitis, periodontopatogenic microorganisms.
