Abstract.
The main aim of this study is to evaluate changes of the main rates for the Breast Cancer Screening Program in the Khanty-Mansiysky Autonomous Okrug – Ugra during 2007-2009 years, and to determine the methods in order to improve the quality of mammography screening in future. The programme parameters are: age – over 40 years old; screening interval — every 2 years; 2-view mammography; single reading. Within the ESMO Fellowship for Translational Research for Eastern Europe, funded by Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, we have evaluated the quality of the Breast Cancer Screening Programme in Ugra. During the period 2007-2009 there are 92576 women have been screened in the region. There are 227 breast cancer cases have been detected within screening program. The coverage rate estimated as 30%. During the period 2007–2009 years the percentage of screening mammography increased from 51% to 70% among all mammography inspections. Now the first task is to improve uptake among the target population in our region. Also we have to organize a comprehensive screening data capture system, to collect more detailed data on the screening process. We are planning to implement the CAD (computer-aided detection) system for mammography equipment. Thus, in the future in Ugra is planned to continue the Breast Cancer Screening Program, also have been identified the key ways for the improving of the quality of screening.
Key words:
