Abstract.
Recently, cultures of fibroblasts and keratinocytes of both autologous and allogenic origin are widely used for skin burns therapy. Fibroblasts and keratinocytes secrete extracellular matrix components and cytokines, that stimulate angiogenesis, formation of granulating tissue and reepithelialization of wound surface. Keratinocytes stimulate the recovery of epidermis, but they do not affect the recovery of dermal layer significantly. Fibroblasts accelerate the recovery of both dermal and epidermal layers due to stimulation of migration and proliferation of recepient’s own fibroblasts and keratinocytes. The cellular material for transplantation can be used in cellular suspensions, cellular sheet grafts and, besides, in epidermal (containing keratinocytes), dermal (containing fibroblasts) and composite skin substitutes.
