Abstract. The bioelectrical activity of the brain has been investigated in 134 of sportsmen of high qualification. All study participants lived and trained in uncomfortable climatic conditions of the North Ob river region (60о59’N; 69o02’E). Thestudy included 83 men and 51 women. The average age of participants was 20.5Ѓ}1.5 years. The average duration of sports was 10.9Ѓ}2.5 years. Classification of samples of electroencephalogram (EE G) was performed according to the classification proposed by E.A. Zhirmunskaja and V.S. Losev (1984). Therehave been substantiated 5 types and 20 groups of electroencephalograms. The study has revealed the following frequency ofelectroencephalogram types. The highest frequency was inherent in the first type EE G. The first type is met at 43.1% of sportsmen of high qualification. The second type EE G met at 10.3% of athletes. The third type EE G was the rarest and met at 3.5% of the athletes. The fourth type EE G met at 29.3% of study participants. The fifth type EE G met in 13.8% of cases.Statistically significant differences of EE G typefrequencies with frequencies in the comparison sample were not discovered. The assessment of frequency of 20 groups EE G revealed in athletes significantly higher (p<0.05) frequency of the fourth group and lower frequency of the secondgroup. We conclude that frequent option changes the background EE G pattern in sportsmen of high qualification is the weakening of alpha activity and the replacement of itswith low beta waves, and in some cases, human cortical theta, and even delta wave activity.
Key words: electroencephalogram, alpha rhythm, beta rhythm, sportsmen, adaptation.
