Abstract. The purpose of the study — to examine the values of homocysteine and MTHFR C677T polymorphism in the development of preeclampsia. In the study, «case¬control» involved 14 women without preeclampsia, 16 — with moderate and 14 to severe preeclampsia; assessed levels of homocysteine and hsСRB, polymorphisms of the gene MTHFR C677T. Found that severe preeclampsia is associated with elevated homocysteine levels (10,48±0,79 mkmol/l) and a high frequency of homozygous mutation MTHFR C6777T (35,7%). The positive correlation of homocysteine with hsCRB (r=0,445, p=0,002), talking about his probable participation in the development of systemic inflammatory response. The positive correlations homocysteine levels (r=0,451, p=0,002) and MTHFR TT (r=0,415, p=0,005) with the frequency and severity of preeclampsia suggests the possibility of using these markers as predictors of preeclampsia .

Key words: pregnancy, preeclampsia, homocysteine, polymorphism of MTHFR C677T.
