Abstract. Vitamin D deficiency is an important issue in modern medicine. The literature shows the effect of vitamin D on the processes of oxidative stress and inflammation, atrogenesis, and chronic non-infectious diseases. The provision of vitamin D is important when living in the Arctic region due to the high probability of the development of oxidative disorders. Objective: to evaluate the effect of the level of 25(OH)D on the parameters of oxidative stress. Materials and methods. Persons of the youthful age of Arkhangelsk were examined: the level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the level of highly sensitive C-reactive peripheral blood protein, the level of total peroxide (SPP), the total antioxidant ability (OSA) of the blood by immunoassay were analyzed. Results: Vitamin D deficiency was found in 28 people (23%), deficiency was found in 42 people (34%) and severe deficiency in 13 people (11%) of this sample. The overwhelming majority — 82 people (66%) — had C-reactive protein levels of less than 1 mg/l, revealed low overall antioxidant activity, a lower concentration of CRP at a normal level of 25 (OH)D relative to the group with vitamin D deficiency. Conclusions: This study demonstrated the effect of level 25 (OH) D on parameters of oxidative stress and inflammation.
