Abstract.
Expression of E-cadherin, P-cadherin, as well as associated molecules of β-catenin and p120-catenin in Luminal A breast cancer was studied. Thestudied group included 50 appropriated cases. Expression of E-cadherin and associated molecules on breast cancer cells was detected by immunohistochemical method with use of specific antibodies. In the majority of the cases (92 %) coexpression of E- and P-cadherins was found. Correlation between expression of both cadherins was r = 0.70 (p < 0.05). β- and p120-catenins, which associated with E- and P-cadherins, expressed in 64 and 88 % respectively. Correlation between the parameters was r = 0.58 (p < 0.05).
The appearance of β- andр120-cateninsexpressionsuggestsstartof signal pathways, activated by aberrant expression of epithelial cadherins that lead to increase of motility and invasion of breast cancer cells.
