Abstract. We examined characteristics of central nervous system functional state and cognitive functions in 114 draft military men from strategic rocket forces (SRF) referring to high, medium and satisfactory levels of adaptation, with the view to finding out psycho-physiological success determinants of their military professional adaptation (MPA). Distribution of the military men into groups was conducted retrospectively, based on experts’ estimation given by their commanders after 5 months’ service. We applied correction test (with application of noise) and «Black and Red Chart» method for studying attention and noise resistance; tapping test for studying strength and flexibility of nervous processes; «Verbal Memory» for memory and «Analogies» method for thinking. It was revealed that success in military professional adaptation is determined by characteristics of central nervous system functional state: strength of excitement process, noise-resistance, functional flexibility of nervous processes, level of verbal and logical thinking, verbal and operative memory, qualities of distribution and switching attention. Considering the discriminative character of the methods — correction test (with application of noise) and tapping test, they should be used in complex with commonly accepted set of tests for military professional adaptation prognostication of draft military men from strategic rocket forces.
