Gender Differences of Myocardial Morphology of Rats During Heart Failure

Abstract. We obtained the main morphometric properties of rat myocardium under monocrotaline induced heart failure. It is shown significant differences of cardiac myocyte mean diameters between male and female rats (mean diameter of male rat myocytes is significantly greater than diameter of female rat myocytes) both in control group and heart failure group. It is established that gender differences of myocardial morphology maintain during heart failure.
