Abstract. Evaluation of energy metabolism of the brain was performed in 28 men and 31 elderly women living in the circumpolar region. Cerebral energy transfer was determined by analyzing the distribution level constant potential brain by mapping obtained using monopolar measurement values DC- potential. DC- potential distribution characteristics were compared with the average standard values for the corresponding age period. Revealed that the distribution of DC- potential on the part of the brain in elderly northerners changed in comparison with the standard indicators. The characteristic features of the brain of energy in men and women of the North in the elderly: increased performance on most DC- potential leads, increasing the total cerebral energy consumption in both groups compared with normative data, DC- potential violation domed distribution in men.
Keywords: energy metabolism of the brain, the DC- potential, elderly, polar region
