Abstract. New data have been obtained on physiological and biochemical effects of metabolic poison fluoroacetate (FA). Under intoxication with FA, the main energy substrates are lactate, glutamate and glutamine. Glucose and free fatty acids cannot be the substrates in the first hours, though can be utilized later.
Keywords: fluoroacetate, lactate, aminoacids, free fatty acids
