Breast cancer is the leading oncologic disease in women in the world. Hormonal therapy is recommended, while operation material or biopsy specimen of tumor has positive immunohistochemical reaction with antibodies to steroid hormone receptors. Some discordance of hormone receptor rate between metastases and primary tumor exists. This can lead to failure of hormone therapy. This investigation aims to find and characterize the discordance between the primary tumor and metastases. In this study operation material by 91 patients was investigated. All cases were divided in three groups — with negative ER-status of primary lesion (32 cases), with Allred rate 2–6 (37 cases) and with 7–8 Allred rate (22 cases). In each group expression of ER of primary and metastatic tumors was compared, using Wilcoxon test. Only second group had significant difference in ER expression levels (p < 0,01). In this group the shift of rate in metastases was observed in all cases, and in 31 cases it was elevated. Findings complement the data about HR rate discordance of primary tumor and metastases.

Key words:

breast cancer, estrogen receptors, metastases, discordant receptor status
