Abstract.
The present paper discusses the results of the survey of 12 TB Establishments (TBE) of the Sverdlovsk region conducted within the framework of the sanitary and bacteriological control of the mycobacteria tuberculosis (MBT) in the air of the enclosed spaces. The air sampling was carried out using the “Ultraproba-R” sampler based on a powerful water filtration vacuum cleaner “Rainbow D” [1, 2]. Surface sampling swab was done using a sampler based on a “Thomas Twin XT” washing vacuum cleaner [3]. Sampling was carried out before and after the aerosol treatment of the premises by “Desargent” solution with 10 % hydrogen peroxide concentration and 3ml/m3 dosage, using “Ultrasprayer R-60” fine-dispersed sprayer.
The paper provides the data of bacteriological and molecular genetic methods (MGM) of air samples and swab analysis, and gives the comparative characteristic of the methods when exercising sanitary and bacteriological control.
The sanitary bacteriological analysis revealed that the luminescent microscopy test-sensitivity excels that of cultural method. However, only cultural method can confirm the vitality of mycobacteria (MB) — MBT and mycobacteria nontuberculous (MBNT). The authors also found out that — in comparison with a diagnostic study — it is necessary to considerably lengthen the incubation period when sanitary and bacteriological studies of the inoculation in a solid medium (SM) due to a reduced metabolic rate of MB cells persistent in difficult environments, and to a slower growth of MB culture.
The paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the aerosol treatment. The luminescent microscopy shows the increase of damaged MB cells, and the cultural study shows the lack of detection of viable MB.
