Abstract. The problem of quality endodontic treatment is the most urgent. The most important stage of endodontic therapy is the removal of the lubricated layer. The aim of the investigation — to compare different protocols of removing lubricated layer. Materials and methods. There was an exploration of 20 intacted molars, which were removed by the medical reasons. At the stage of final irrigation, the following protocols were used: only 3% sodium hypochlorite solution, 3% sodium hypochlorite and 17% EDTA solution, 3% sodium hypochlorite solution and twice 17% EDTA solution, 3% sodium hypochlorite solution and twice 20% citric acid solution. The samples were studied using a JSM-6390LV scanning electron microscope. Results. When the root canals are machined, a lubricated layer form is on their walls. The study of samples, where the standard protocol was used, showed an improvement in the quality of root canal cleaning of the components of the lubricated layer, unlike samples, where only 3% sodium hypochlorite was irrigated. When studying tooth samples, where double treatment with chelate solutions was included in the protocol, the maximum number of open dentinal tubules was detected in micrographs. Conclusion. When we machining the root canal, the using of both manual and machine tools to the same extent provokes the formation of a lubricated layer. The using of only 3% sodium hypochlorite solution at the stages of final irrigation does not completely remove the lubricated layer. Conducting a comparative assessment of solution effectiveness of using 17% EDTA and 20% citric acid in the protocol of final irrigation with the same efficiency remove the lubricated layer. The double use of chelate solutions allows you to completely remove the lubricated layer, which increases the efficiency of the final irrigation of the root canal.
