Abstract.

The frequency of intraoperative and postoperative complications
of surgical treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) using mesh implants
or without them. The study included 266 patients with POP of II-IV stages.
Patients were divided as follows: I group – 214 (80,4 %) women who
underwent surgical correction of the POP by extraperitoneal vaginal
kolpopeksia using implant Prolift. In group II – 52 (19,6 %) patients
who underwent anterior and posterior kolporrafiya without using mesh
implants. Analysis of the operations in groups I and II showed that the
average duration of surgery, anesthesia, the mean blood loss, hospital stay,
significant differences between groups were found (p>0,05). Intraoperative,
early and late postoperative complications were observed in patients in both
groups. Recurrence of prolapse genitalia most frequently encountered after
surgical treatment solely by local tissues, which was not observed when using
polypropylene implants. This leads to the use of mesh implants as a method
of choice for treatment failure of pelvic floor muscles at the present time.
