Abstract. The healthcare system of the Russian Federation is currently facing numerous challenges, the most critical of which is the need for continuous improvement in the quality of medical services, process optimization, and cost reduction. Under conditions of limited resources and growing patient expectations, medical organizations are compelled to seek new approaches to operational management. One such approach is the application of Lean production principles.
The purpose of the work was to analyze the experience of implementing Lean tools and methods in hospital admission departments across the Russian Federation. Material and Methods. The study was conducted as a four-stage literature review based on PRISMA Group guidelines. A total of 20 publications from 2019 to 2024 were included in the contextual-semantic analysis. A one-factor regression analysis was used to assess the dynamics of publication activity. Stratification and latent semantic analysis allowed the identification of the main thematic research areas. Results and Discussion. The analysis revealed four key directions for improving the functioning of hospital admission departments using Lean methods: organizational and simulation modeling, project-based approaches, standardization, and strategic planning. The implementation of measures in these areas has been shown to reduce patient waiting and stay times, ease the burden on staff, and improve the quality of medical care. A trend was noted toward hybrid application of traditional Lean methods and tools with innovative practices for enhancing the operations of admission departments. Conclusion. Lean production principles play a critical role in improving the efficiency and quality of hospital admission department operations. The adaptation and integration of new solutions simultaneously create both risks and opportunities for enhancing healthcare accessibility and promoting patient-centered care. However, further research is necessary to address unresolved issues.
