Abstract. Successful implementation of the State Strategy for Counteracting the Spread of HIV Infection in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 requires regions to organize effective measures for the prevention, detection, and treatment of HIV infection in order to reduce morbidity and mortality. The Sverdlovsk Region is one of the most affected territories in the Russian Federation by HIV infection, which necessitates constant activity and coordinated interaction in organizing the response to the spread of infection. The aim of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness of the implementation of the HIV infection control system in the Sverdlovsk Region. Materials and methods – systemic approach, epidemiological analysis, bio-behavioral studies, sociological and statistical methods. Results. In order to improve the epidemic situation with HIV infection in the Sverdlovsk Region, a comprehensive interdepartmental system for combating HIV infection is being implemented, including the activities and interaction of interested executive authorities and local governments, and socially oriented non-profit organizations. Improving the organization of preventive measures, methods of examination and provision of medical care during the years of the State Strategy has made it possible to ensure a high level of public awareness regarding the main issues of HIV infection, reduce the morbidity of HIV infection by 56.8%, increase the number of HIV infection cases detected at early stages of the disease by 20%, reduce mortality due to HIV infection by 35.8%, and achieve a rate of HIV transmission from mother to child of less than 1%. Based on the results achieved, priority tasks have been identified to strengthen the measures against the spread of HIV infection in the Sverdlovsk Region.
