Abstract. Objective. To study the peculiarities of cerebral cryptococcosis development in patients without HIV infection. Materials and methods. Medical records of hospitalized patients (form 058/y). When examining the patients, HIV infection was excluded using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The diagnosis of cryptococcosis was confirmed by the detection of Cryptococcus neoformans antigens in the cerebrospinal fluid using the latex agglutination reaction. Additionally, instrumental studies (echocardiography, computed tomography of the brain) were performed. Results. Patients underwent antimycotic therapy with amphotericin B and fluconazole. Complex antibacterial therapy and immunotherapy were carried out to threat other pathologies. The result was clearance of Cryptococcus from the cerebrospinal fluid and recovery of patients. Conclusion. The peculiarity of these cases was that the paients suffered simultaneously from cryptococcal, tick-borne and staphylococcal infections. The condition for successful treatment of these cases was early bacteriological and immunological diagnostics and timely adequate antimycotic therapy.
