Abstract. The content of autoantibodies to all tested antigens (oxidized low-density lipoproteins, GAD, insulin, cells of Langerhans islets, annexin-V, phosphatidylserine, single and double helix of DNA, thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor, thyroid peroxidase, IFN-α) in healthy people was studied using enzyme immunodetection. The research revealed a wide range of autoantibodies with various specificity and a high level of autoantibody increased concentrations (from 1% to 38.42% depending on the specificity) in blood of humans, living in arctic regions of Russia. Autoantibody formation was shown to be a physiological process. Within the set limits increasing the autoantibody concentrations seems to be a defense physiological reaction directed at elimination of autoantigenes and maintenance of homeostasis due to age-related, seasonal, hormonal and metabolic changes.

Keywords: autoantibodies, autoantibody formation, regulation of homeostasis
