Abstract. The study has involved adult population living in Subpolar and Arctic region of the Northern European Russia. It was established that, catecholamine activity was significantly higher in the Arctic region irrespective of sex. Moreover average levels of adrenaline in the urine of people from both regions were beyond the upper normal level; 57% and 68% of women and 60% and 62% of men in Subpolar and Arctic region, respectively, experienced abnormally high values. Also there was shown the imbalance of noradrenaline level with its shift toward higher values, in a greater degree it was typically to the residents of Arctic region. The coefficient noradrenaline / adrenaline was more stable in the residents of Arctic region in both sexes, whereas in the residents of Subpolar region it is true only for men.

Keywords: adrenaline, noradrenaline, Subpolar and Arctic regions, men and women.
