Abstract.
One of the most acute social and medical problems is
infertility currently affecting 10-15% married couples. It has been
noted that male factor infertility is becoming common. The most
frequent pathology detected in the ejaculate using routine methods is
asthenozoospermia, i.e. reduced sperm motility. Asthenozoospermia can
be caused by the filament ultrastructural morphology changes detectable
by electron microscopy only. The given research was aimed at studying
the most typical pathological changes in sperm which are likely to affect
its motility, which includes an ultrastructural study of infertility. The
goals of the research included the revealing of intracellular changes by
comparing data obtained by light microscopy and electron microscopy.
Keywords:
male infertility, spermatozoon, electron microscopic study, asthenozoospermia.
