Abstract. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of insufflation of the mixture of 3% oxygen and 97% carbon dioxide on the peritoneal blood microcirculation compared to the effect of insufflation of 100% CO2 pneumoperitoneum. We used data obtained from 62 patients, 30±0.7 years old. These results suggest that the using of traditional CO2 pneumoperitoneum during laparoscopic surgical procedures impairs cardiovascular parameters and local peritoneal capillary circulation in the gynecological patients. The addition of just 3% of oxygen into the gas mixture both normalized hemodynamic parameters, abolished vascular spasms and improved blood circulation in peritoneal capillaries.
