Abstract. We used a one-dimensional mathematical model of heart muscle to study effects of the electrical and mechanical interactions between cardiomyocytes on their function during contractions of the fiber at various mechanical loads (afterloads). It was shown that afterload essentially affects not only characteristics of shortening-lengthening of the fiber and its cells, but the electrical properties as well.
