The Influence of Industrial Hazards on the Prevalence of Helicobacter Pylori – Associated Gastritis

Abstract. Goal. To study the effect of industrial hazards on the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori-associated atrophic gastritis. Analyze the structure of the surveyed at various industrial enterprises of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Materials and methods. The subjects were divided into two groups. The first group included workers from various industrial enterprises of the Karachaevo-Cherkessia Republic, who were exposed to occupational hazards, the second, control, consisted of the subjects not exposed to the effects of harmfulness. Prevalence of infection was assessed taking into account gender differences. In both study groups, a non-invasive serological screening test was performed to determine antibody titres to Helicobacter pylori. The reliability of the differences was analyzed using Student's t-test. Results and Conclusion. According to the data of the analysis of infection and the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori, it can be argued that there are no differences between a group of long-term workers in occupational hazards and a group of people who have never worked in contact with occupational hazards. Therefore, this considered factor, probably, cannot affect the prevalence and severity of manifestations of atrophic gastritis.
