Abstract. Introduction. Physical activity is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. Many inhabitants of our planet try to adhere to the basic principles of a healthy lifestyle, but despite this, the problem of low physical activity has not lost its relevance.
The purpose of the work: to summarize the data available in the scientific literature on the effect of physical activity on the human body.
Methods and materials: the article presents a retrospective analysis of sources of domestic and foreign scientific literature provided in electronic databases: PubMed, Google scholar, CyberLeninka, eLibrary and devoted to the study of the effects of physical activity on the human body.
Results and discussions. It was found that adequate physical activity leads to an increase in the functional capabilities of the body, increased adaptation to adverse environmental conditions and improvement of the immune system.
Conclusion. Voluntary, systematic and adequate physical activity can help strengthen the functional capabilities of the body.
Keywords: physical activity, physical inactivity, exercise, circadian rhythm, active lifestyle, Covid-19, health
